Join our sewing team.

None of what we do is possible without our fantastic team of Fairies. Every contribution no matter what size is hugely appreciated and makes a real difference to a child in hospital.

Whether you are a beginner seamstress or a seasoned professional – you can definitely sew up a set.  The patterns are easy to follow and are a great stress-free project.  There are step-by-step tutorials which can be found in our Fairy Handbook and there is always a friendly Fairy on hand to answer any queries.

So… How do I get started?

Fairy's Facebook

Request to join our Fairies only Facebook Page. This is the place where all Fairies (Our Volunteers) come together to discuss sewing matters and share information.

Source Your Fabric

Becoming a fairy is a commitment, you will need to provide your own fabrics and notions and sew to set deadlines. Although fabric is provided when funds allow.

Gain Your Wings

Before you can sew your first order you will need to make some sample garments to gain your ‘Wings’ and become a fully fledged Fairy.

Fairy Power

The Fairies are the most critical part of our charity.  As well as sewing garments our Fairies often organise local fundraising activities, anything from school fetes to cake sales to running marathons.  If they wish, Fairies can choose to attend events at local hospitals to publicise our services and where possible deliver orders in person to their local hospitals.

Becoming a Fairy is not just about sewing.  The Fairy community provides friendship and support in all sorts of areas to everybody who is generous enough to dedicate their free-time to helping Pyjama Fairies. Please come and join us!

Gaining your Fairy Wings

In order to become a fairy and earn your wings (that’s what we call the quality control for each garment you sew) you will need to access ‘Fairy Facebook’ where you can access the rules, watch the tutorials and learn more.

Commonly asked questions by potential new fairies:

As a general rule each fairy supplies their own fabric, haberdashery and equipment.

Patterns can be ordered or downloaded from our website. They cannot be used for anything other than work supported by this charity.

No, we have strict guidelines on fabric and it must be new 100% cotton/cotton poplin, full details can be found in the rules

Our dedicated Fairies only Facebook group is very friendly, useful, well-contained space and is a requirement of becoming a Fairy, it’s not just about sewing and you will also have full support from our Fairies to help you find your feewww.facebook.com/groups/PyjamaFairies

All our Fairies sew from home, but you may find a nearby Fairy who is happy to meet up and sew with you.  Regional get togethers are sometimes organised by Fairies and nearly always involve tea and cake.
